Kuhl Votes for ENDA

Randy Kuhl was the only Western New York Republican to vote for the Employment Non-Discrimination Act.  The bill outlaws discrimination based on sexual orientation.

This vote was a decent act, and probably a political risk.  Kuhl deserves respect for supporting the bill in committee and on the floor of the House.

The Act is pretty watered down, but I supposed that is to be expected on this.

You're right - it's by no means comprehensive. Still, only 35 Republicans voted for it, a few Democrats voted against, it might be brought up in the Senate next year (no guarantee), and it's under a veto threat from the White House.

I think the supporters are hoping that it will be a stepping stone to tougher legislation.

This was a big step for Congressman Kuhl and I am very proud of him. Something has happened within the past ten years or so to open his eyes to these issues. Good for him!
