The Star-Gazette has the details on yesterday's meeting with Gov. Patterson and legislative leadership. The story also says that the final count will be available this week or next.

Massa Said "New Yorkers receive a lower return of our federal tax dollars than nearly any other state.”

How could this happen with Randy and Hillary and Chuckie representing us?

It's all because of a quaint group of (mainly) old men that we like to call "The Senate". Because rural states still get 2 Senators, those rural senators need to be bribed to pass legislation for urban states. All the big urban states get royally screwed in that way.

The amount of federal money a state gets is proportion to the total number of representatives it has. Because of the fact that each state gets two Senators (regardless of its population), this means the larger the state's population, the fewer representatives it has per capita. Thus, the larger the state's population is, the less money it gets per capita.

Yep...you said it better...

Interesting that after meeting with Patterson Massa mentions that some want to emphasize saving Wall Street (and all that revenue).

How do you think Eric will stand on rescuing the automobile biz?

The auto issue is interesting because there are auto parts manufacturers in or close-by the 29th.

That said, even if the car makers were to go Chapter 11, presumably they'd still be making cars, so those parts manufacturers would still get orders.
