Another Statement from Randy

Another ex-Randy Kuhl employee, Meghan Tisinger, sends this release from Randy Kuhl:

Bath, NY – Former Congressman John R. Kuhl released the following statement regarding the announcement that Congressman Eric Massa will resign effective Monday.

“Congressman Massa’s decision to resign is the right one. The impending ethics investigation is and would be a dangerous distraction to him and the 29th Congressional District. I sincerely hope that he takes this time to rebuild any damage to his family and get the medical care that he needs to beat cancer.

Now we must look to the future of this congressional seat and the desperate need for leadership in Congress. Although, I am still deciding on my political future one thing is for sure, we need a proven experienced leader to represent the 29th Congressional District. Over the last 15 months we all have seen the ramifications of out of control spending and reckless leadership. This district deserves to have a representative who will stand up for them and their interest."

Sounds like Randy is running to me.

Here's the play-by-play prediction:

Randy will run;
Party chairs will save face; because
Tom Reed will gracefully bow out;
Tom Reed will work for and with Randy;
Randy will win.

Bonus feature: Randy will tell the 29th "See what happens when you vote for a democrat!"

They'd have to give Tom a lot to get him to bow out. He's put a ton of work in.

Wow----Randy back? It sure DOES sound as if he's in, however. But when you think of the amount of work and energy which former Mayor Reed has invested. Man...to have a crystal ball. Remember--and our blogmaster was the first to point it out: All bets are off in the event of a special election. It's all about GOTV and----can you imagine the national spotlight suddenly placed on us (memories of 23). Greenwood and Jasper, this is your time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"we need a proven experienced leader to represent the 29th Congressional District"...... "This district deserves to have a representative who will stand up for them and their interest."
We'll if the job requires qualifications like that Randy must be about to endorse someone else.

I have been a registered Republican for about 35 years. I will not vote for Randy Kuhl. I will vote for the Democrat if I can stomach he or she, or I will vote for a third party candidate. If all else fails I will let my wishes be known by not voting.

Any thoughts on an inexperienced young independent having a shot? Will probably lack the money and name recognition, but has sound ideas and strong convictions.

"we need a proven experienced leader to represent the 29th Congressional District"...... "This district deserves to have a representative who will stand up for them and their interest."

Can I point out that Randy lives in Pulteney, votes in Pulteney and pays his taxes in Pulteney. When it was found out that Chesapeake Energy was going to dump 180,000 gallons of toxic waste a day for 10 years down an old natural gas well in Pulteney just above Keuka Lake it was Eric Massa who came to our rescue not Randy Kuhl. Randy Kuhl didn't stand up for his home town or Keuka Lake and Randy Kuhl didn't show leadership. But Eric Massa did.

Randy Kuhl is one of the few Republicans who couldn't win this seat. He was rejected by Republicans in the last election. They don't want him back.

You know, since it's a special election----conceivably free of any other distractions----why COULDN'T a reasonably financed independent make a run at this? Wouldn't that be something? Or even Assini, the conservative fellow who ran in the primary years ago? I wouldn't count Randy out, at all. This is gonna be something to watch, folks.

Randy Kuhl has been trying to stir up interest in his potential run. There isn't any there. Maggie Brooks was in Washington yesterday meeting with folks at the NRCC and the party not only wants her as the candidate, the party leadership is actively working the phones to line up support behind her.

I agree. Randy is old news. Tom Reed agreed to be the sacrafical lamb against Massa. He deserves a shot.
