Massa on Day One in DC

Comments

I'm pissed and embarrassed about Eric. He lied to us and he's lying to himself. HuffPost described his TV appearances as a train wreck and I have to agree.

Glenn Beck said something like “If you’re lying to me, you’re one of the most evil bastards I’ve ever met.” It’s not often that glenn beck’s words resonate with me, but those words do. Today is a sad day.

I agree with Anonymous. I've been a Massa supporter since he was a no-name (it was anti-Kuhl thing). A train wreck indeed.

Dear Mr. Massa:

Shut up! Please! Shut up and disappear! Move back to wherever you came from before you decided to "adopt" our district and run for office despite never living here.

Think of your poor family. They must be dying here. You are an embarassment to them. You are an embarassment to us, the people of Western New York and of the Democrat party. You are even an embarassment to the Navy, who you seem to blame for your "salty" behavior. Please, don't dishonor our Navy veterans any more by blaming your psychotic behavior on them and their culture.

So please, stop talking and disappear like your mentor Mark Foley did before you...

Many thanks,
A Concerned Citizen of the 29th District of New York

Hold it...hold it. For Lord's sake. Why do people think Massa is "lying"? I thought he comported himself well on the Beck show. It's true the national media, particularly MSNBC, are lampooning hiim to no end but the fact stands that this man did the amazing: Moving into this district and becominig the first Democrat in full history, I believe, to be elected to Congress during a general election, against an incumbent, and during a Presidential Year no less. That is REMARKABLE. A real testsimony to him, and yes his family, and most of all to the voters who were independent-minded and who I hope will allow him to move ahead with his life. Sadly, he has probably destroyed the profile of the Democratic party throughout at least the Southern Tier--but one only hopes that folks will be savvy and mature enough to look beyond that.

Anyway, that's how I see it. I'm just as saddened by the ganging-up-against-him now....

On a related note: Since, it seems, popular opinion is that the guy is now a scounderel.......what ARE the options for him to dispose of his campaign coffers at this point? Am I right in thinking that people would paint any shifting of those resources to a candidate in the special election as a Kiss of Death? And hey: Any further info re: this supposed "Mystery Candidate" who some said would surface in Allegheny County?

If Reed officially gets the nod for a special election, then there will be no mystery candidate. It would be ignorant and political suicide to run against Reed in the Southern Tier (unless you're a Democrat). Last I heard, the exploratory committee dissolved around the beginning of January. It's only because of Massa's resignation that rumblings and rumors started again, but I do not think they are going anywhere.

I liked Eric - but I am afraid he has gone off the deep end. I can't imagine how his wife and children feel

Anonymous: "Move back to wherever you came from before you decided to "adopt" our district and run for office despite never living here."

So what makes you think Massa adopted the district and never lived here?

"Move Back to wherever you came from" anonymous commenter is obviously a wing-nut. Only wing-nuts refer to it as the "Democrat" party.

Because that's what he did. When he won the election, he had actually lived in the district for 8 years, and had been running for Congress for 4. Before that he had never lived in the district, was never registered to vote in New York, except as a Republican before he switched parties. And he has said that. Rotten himself has said that was the case and that it didn't matter as many people move into the district (yet few run for Congress).

As for the Democrat paty... There are Republicans and Democrats. A member of the Republican party calls himself a Republican. A Democrat is not a Democratic. I am a Democrat. Not a Democratic.

Whatever the case, get this joker off the national media. He's killing us.
